Kevin Smith reveals a Yoga Hosers monster: the Bratzi

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

During his annual San Diego Comic-Con panel tonight, Kevin Smith will be premiering the trailer for YOGA HOSERS, the second installment in his True North Trilogy of Canada-based creature features. In anticipation of this, he has posted on his social media accounts a picture of one of the creatures featured in the film, the Bratzi, "a foot tall Canadian Nazi made of sentient Bratwurst" that he is playing himself.

Remember when the fact that Smith had shaved his beard was all over the news a few months ago? He did that so he could wear the Bratzi prosthetics designed by FX artist Robert Kurtzman. And there isn't expected to be just one Bratzi in YOGA HOSERS – through the use of green screen effects, Smith is going to be portraying several of these evil little sausages.

YOGA HOSERS centers on

15-year-old yoga nuts Colleen Collette (Lily-Rose Depp) and Colleen McKenzie (Harley Quinn Smith), who have an after-school job at a Manitoba convenience store called Eh-2-Zed. When an ancient evil rises from beneath Canada’s crust and threatens their big invitation to a Grade 12 party, the Colleens join forces with a legendary man-hunter from Montreal named Guy Lapointe (Johnny Depp) to fight for their lives with all seven Chakras, one Warrior Pose at a time.

The Colleens and Lapointe are roles the younger Smith and the Depps originated in the first True North film, TUSK. The rest of the cast includes Ralph Garman, Tony Hale, Natasha Lyonne, Austin Butler, Adam Brody, Tyler Posey, Jason Mewes, Stan Lee, Justin Long, Genesis Rodriguez, Jennifer Schwalbach, Harley Morenstein, and Haley Joel Osment.

In scenes set in the 1930s, Osment will be playing real-life Canadian Nazi politician Adrien Arcand, so one would assume he may have some ties to the Bratzi. Why the monsters take the form of sausages, though, is something I can't even begin to theorize about.

The unexpected insanity of the Bratzi concept and the ridiculous image of it had me laughing in front of my computer screen for a good thirty seconds, so I'm totally on board for this one. I can't wait to see the trailer.

Smith will be joined on the Comic-Con stage by another of the film's monsters, the Goalie Golem.
