Kevin Smith: Joker killed young Bruce Wayne in original ending

THE HANGOVER director Todd Phillips' JOKER starring Joaquin Phoenix was a massive hit at the box-office – as if you didn't already know that. And today we have word from CLERKS and DOGMA writer-director Kevin Smith that Phoenix killed young Bruce Wayne in the film's original ending!

Smith says:

Originally, the ending in the hospital was different. He's in the hospital and he laughs, chuckles, and he says, 'I was just thinkin' of something funny. What was supposed to happen was you flashed back to the death of Thomas and Martha Wayne and it was him killing Thomas and Martha Wayne and the boy was screaming and crying and he turned to walk away and he turned back, shrugged, and shot the kid. Credits. What the fuck, man! This world has no Batman!

Dammit! That's how I was hoping and praying the film would end when I watched it. Weak. How do YOU feel about this alternate JOKER ending? Let us know below!  The film was slapped with an R rating for "strong bloody violence, disturbing behavior, language, and brief sexual images."

Here's the synopsis:

Forever alone in a crowd, failed comedian Arthur Fleck seeks connection as he walks the streets of Gotham City. Arthur wears two masks — the one he paints for his day job as a clown, and the guise he projects in a futile attempt to feel like he's part of the world around him. Isolated, bullied and disregarded by society, Fleck begins a slow descent into madness as he transforms into the criminal mastermind known as the Joker.
