Kidnapped director Miguel Vivas to helm apocalyptic zombies in Welcome to Harmony

Juan De Dios Garduño’s Spanish novel, Y PESE A TODO, is getting an English-language adaptation courtesy of Vaca Films. Spanish filmmaker Miguel Ángel Vivas (KIDNAPPED) will helm the project, tentatively titled WELCOME TO HARMONY. Vivas is co-writing the script with Alberto Marini (TO LET).

Vaca Films’ Borja Pena describes the picture as “an apocalyptic horror film in the mold of I AM LEGEND and 28 DAYS LATER. We are currently working on the script and so don’t have a shooting date or cast confirmed yet.”

The film will take place during World War III, with the US, Great Britain and Israel teaming up against against Iran, China and Russia. It will focus on chemical weapons that wipe out everyone in each country, except a father and daughter and their hated neighbor living in Bangor, Maine who have to confront unwanted visitors.

I don’t read Spanish so I can’t such much about the novel, but apparently it was a best-seller and received positive reviews. I know I’m always down for another good post-apocalyptic zombie film. How about you?
