First Robert Rodriguez saw his SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR pushed back almost an entire year, and now MACHETE will have to wait to kill a bit later. Although thankfully it won’t be too long.

Open Road has announced that MACHETE KILLS will hit theaters on October 4th, a few weeks after its original September 13th date. The sequel will now square off against Alfonso Cuaron’s GRAVITY, whereas before it was looking down the barrel of surefire hit INSIDIOUS CHAPTER 2.

MACHETE KILLS finds the titular ex-federale (Trejo) recruited by the U.S. government to stop a terrorist named Mendez the Madman, who happens to be Mexico’s leading cartel dealer.

MACHETE KILLS stars Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen (aka Carlos Estevez), Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demián Bichir, Alexa Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding, Jr., William Sadler, Marko Zaror and Mel Gibson.
