Rick Heinrichs, one of cinema’s most prodigious production designers, has been hired to create the sets for Tim Burton’s DARK SHADOWS, reports Comic Book Movies.

Heinrichs recently finished work on CAPTAIN AMERICA, and has films like THE WOLFMAN, THE BIG LEBOWSKI and Ang Lee’s HULK to his credit.

In 2000, he won an Oscar for his work on Burton’s SLEEPY HOLLOW (check out a screenshot above). He’s been nominated twice since, for LEMONY SNICKET’S A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN’S CHEST.

Heinrichs and Burton also collaborated on PLANET OF THE APES, which was not a great movie but certainly had some impressive sets, as well as BATMAN RETURNS and EDWARD SCISSORHANDS.

No firm start date has been announced for DARK SHADOWS, but it looks like we can expect one soon.
