Rifftrax sets its sights on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story this May!

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

Those rascals at Rifftrax will take down anything, won’t they? Sure, easy enough to go after a TIME CHASERS or SAMURAI COP, but movies that are actually good don’t stand a chance either!

It is in this spirit that the Rifftrax gang – Mike Nelson, Bill Corbett and Kevin Murphy – will next turn their attention to last year’s blockbuster ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY to give it a good riffing. Most of us think that movie is pretty good, but that doesn’t mean it’s not ready to get taken down a peg by the boys. “I’m one with the Force, the Force is with me” won’t get you out of this one, Chirrut!

Via the press release:

Fans of Mystery Science Theater both new and old are in for some laughter from a galaxy far, far away…

Having riffed every previous installment in the franchise, the RiffTrax team (Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy, Bill Corbett) are setting their sights on the latest Star Wars prequel. While Rogue One was generally well received by both critics and fans alike, the journey of Jyn Erso to retrieve the Death Star plans despite the efforts of CGI Grand Moff Tarkin definitely has room for some respectful ribbing.

The riff is available for pre-order now at RiffTrax.com/Rogue-One, and will be available to download on May the 4th – which of course is Star Wars Day. At release, the riff will be compatible with the RiffTrax App, which listens to the movie while you watch and automatically plays the jokes in sync. The app is available for free for Andriod and iOS through RiffTrax.com/App.

We love the Rifftrax boys around here, so this is reason for celebration. A Star Wars celebration, if you will… In case you missed it, check out my interview with Nelson, Corbett and Murphy from earlier in the month right HERE.
