The first two seasons of The Mandalorian have proven to be an enormous success, but there are many more live-action Star Wars TV shows in development for Disney+. One of those shows is Andor, a prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story that will find Diego Luna reprising his role of Cassian Andor. Production on the series has been underway for many months, and like most things Star Wars, details are being kept under wraps, but one cast-member may just have revealed the return of a major character.
While speaking with Swedish radio station Sverige Radio, Stellan Skarsgård reportedly revealed that Forest Whitaker will appear in Andor as Saw Gerrera. As the interview was in Swedish, we'll have to rely on translations, but Skarsgård apparently said that he will share "at least two good" moments with Whitaker, in what he calls some "juicy scenes." Saw Gerrera first appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars where he was voiced by Andrew Kishino, but made the leap to live-action for Rogue One with Forest Whitaker taking on the role. Whitaker reprised the role in episodes of Star Wars: Rebels and in the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order video-game. The character most recently appeared in Star Wars: The Bad Batch, once again voiced by Kishino.
In addition to Diego Luna and Stellan Skarsgård, Andor is also set to star Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma. While it was initially announced that Alan Tudyk would be reprising his role of K-2SO for the series, the actor revealed earlier this year that he wouldn't appear in the first season. "They're shooting it right now, I'm not in it," Tudyk explained. "But, if it stays on the air, stories keep getting told, I'll end up in there." He added that series creator Tony Gilroy does have a plan for the character. "I'm going to be in the show. It's just that the story that Tony [Gilroy] is telling doesn't involve K-2SO until later on," Tudyk teased. "I can't be too specific, but I can definitely say that I'm not going to be in the first season." Andor is expected to debut on Disney+ in 2022.
