Sony to bring Craigslist Killer to life in Lifetime!

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Lifetime fans here’s a juicy scoop for you. Variety has just reported that Sony Pictures TV is planning on adapting the “Craigslist Killer” from the headlines into a screeplay for Lifetime.

If you don’t remember (or live under a rock without an internet connection), the “Craigslist Killer” is a moniker that was coined for Philip Markoff back in 2009. Philip Markoff was jailed for killing Julissa Brisman and was later charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery. “Craigslist Killer” was only attached to his name after a connection was made between the murders and him meeting his victims through Craigslist ads. Recently, however, Markoff had been reported to have commited suicide in his jail cell on August 15th. Sony had already been “in talks” with the screenwriters about the project long before Markoff’s death. It seems Sony had a jump on the headlines project before anyone else could realize how much of a goldmine it was.

Right now Sony, who is producing the picture, has hired Donald Martin and Stephen Tolkin (SUMMERLAND, KATE BRASHER) to pen down the story. Judith Verno is acting as executive producer and Stephen Kay will direct.

Lifetime is also kind of famous for creating cool and snappy movie titles like CYBER SEDUCTION: HIS SECRET LIFE, MORE OF ME and my personal favorite MY STEPSON MY LOVER. I wonder what they’ll call this movie. CYBER SEDUCTION 2? Strike down below with your fair share of comments.
