Sparky is shy in the new Frankenweenie poster!

Tim Burton's FRANKENWEENIE is sure to be a tasty treat when it's released this October; in fact, I'd say it's arguably more worthy of excitement than Burton's other 2012 release, DARK SHADOWS. We can fight about that one later, though; today is Sparky's day in the sun - or moonlight, as it were - as FRANKENWEENIE gets its first official poster. Check it out below.

You can also see the poster "in motion" over at the official FRANKENWEENIE Facebook page, although it offers up little more than lighting flashes in the background.

Hitting theaters on OCTOBER 5th, FRANKENWEENIE has the following synopsis: From creative genius Tim Burton (“Alice in Wonderland,” The Nightmare Before Christmas”) comes “Frankenweenie,” a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.

The voice talent includes Winona Ryder, Martin Short, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Landau, Charlie Tahan, Atticus Shaffer, Robert Capron and Conchata Ferrell.
