Kino Lorber has acquired North American rights to A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT, five months after its world premiere at Sundance, reports Variety.
The Iranian vampire tale marks the feature debut of director Ana Lily Amirpour which is said to be a joyful mash-up of genre, archetype, and iconography, its prolific influences span spaghetti westerns, graphic novels, horror films, and the Iranian New Wave.
Strange things are afoot in Bad City. The Iranian ghost town, home to prostitutes, junkies, pimps and other sordid souls, is a bastion of depravity and hopelessness where a lonely vampire stalks its most unsavory inhabitants. But when boy meets girl, an unusual love story begins to blossom… blood red.
The film stars Sheila Vand, Arash Marandi, Dominic Rains, Marshall Manesh, Mozhan Marnó and Milad Eghbali.
Kino Lorber is planning a theatrical release for the film in October, followed by a digital and home media release early next year. It plans to partner with Vice Media for promotion and social-media outreach campaigns.
