The Dark Tower: New look at Idris Elba as The Gunslinger

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

The last news we heard on the upcoming feature film adaptation of Stephen King's THE DARK TOWER came by word from producer Ron Howard that a potential TV series may still be in the works for The Gunslinger and Co. Why we'll have to wait until later this summer to see if that happens or not (more specifically, if the film is a monster hit or not), but until then we have a new shot of The Gunslinger himself to tide you over.

This new shot comes to us courtesy of Yahoo! Movies and their Summer Movie Preview. The shot isn't much, but it shows Rowland walking through New York with the new character Jake, played by Tom Taylor and that's good enough for me for now.

But where is the trailer??

I hate to be that guy, but come on at this point. We know peeps have seen the awesome footage from the flick, so cut a trailer and blow us all away already, THE DARK TOWER! I'm getting kinda tired of posting pics of Rowland and Co, walking through the streets of New York. But, again, that's good enough for right now. But we need something more soon…

THE DARK TOWER film synopsis:

Jake Chambers (Tom Taylor) is a young 11-year-old adventure seeker who discovers clues about another dimension called Mid-World. Upon following the mystery, he is spirited away to Mid-World where he encounters the lone frontiersman knight Roland Deschain (Idris Elba) who is on a quest to reach the "Dark Tower" that resides in End-World and reach the nexus point between time and space that he hopes will save Mid-World from extinction. But with various monsters and a vicious sorcerer named Walter Padick (Matthew McConaughey) hot on their trail, the unlikely duo find that their quest may be difficult to complete.

THE DARK TOWER is directed by Nikolaj Arcel and stars Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey, Tom Taylor, Fran Kranz, Jackie Earle Haley, Katheryn Winnick, and Abbey Lee (see below).

THE DARK TOWER hits theaters nationwide August 4th.
