The Strange Case of Hyde heads to the big screen

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Fitting that the San Diego Comic-Con 2010 kicks off later today as here’s some comic to film adaptation news that might just blow your skirt up and make you beg for more. What are we talking about? According to Heat Vision / THR, the Dark Horse comic THE STRANGE CASE OF HYDE will be making it’s way to the big screen courtesy of Warner Bros. and screenwriter Cole Haddon!

If you’re a big fan of the original book by Robert Louis Stevenson, don’t worry… this isn’t a re-imagining of the same ol’ story we’re accustomed to, but rather a… well, I’ll let them explain: “Hyde” is not a retelling of the story but seeks to give it a fresh take by making the split personality the center of a Victorian-era action-adventure that sees him go head-to-head against a historical villain.

In other words, SHERLOCK HOLMES did fantastic as an action movie so they’re kinda sorta going the same route and making this an action movie as well. I guess they don’t remember how well both VAN HELSING and THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN did at the box office or at word of mouth. No bother, I dig the concept, and you know what… it just might work out!

According to the report, the first issue of the comic will be making its debut during this week’s SDCC festivities, so it should be interesting to see how well the source material does with fans now that a movie is already in the works.
