The Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel, Leatherface, finds a writer

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

As July was coming to an end we learned that a prequel to THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE was in the works, focusing on the teen years of the adorable Leatherface. Today, we learned via The Wrap that the prequel, LEATHERFACE, will see up-and-coming genre scribe Seth M. Sherwood tackle the iconic villain's early years for Millennium Films. So there you have it, everyone, THE TEXAS CLEARASIL MASSACRE is on its way.

So what's in store for the pimply faced soon-to-be killer? Plot details are being kept quiet, but the site is reporting that the new film is expected to serve as an origin story that follows Leatherface's early years in the 1970s. Origin stories are all the rage these days and it worked for "Bates Motel", so maybe they'll find a spark in LEATHERFACE that can put this franchise on the right path. With production starting as early as this winter, expect to see a director sign onto the project in the coming weeks.

Carl Mazzocone is producing LEATHERFACE, while Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman will serve as executive producers. Campbell and Grobman fought hard to resurrect the franchise and the genre buffs are excited to get started on the next installment.
