Tulip is no delicate flower in this Preacher clip

AMC's Preacher is barreling toward its premiere, so it's only fair that we get a larger glimpse into the world of this comic book adaptation with a promotional clip. The particular clip AMC decided to drop introduces us to the character of Tulip, the Preacher's ex-girlfriend played by Ruth Negga. And you know what they always say: If you're not introduced via a knife fight while driving through a cornfield, are you really introduced at all? Preacher centers on 

Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse, his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) embark on a journey to, literally, find God. 

The show's pilot was written by Sam Catlin, who also serves as showrunner. The show also stars Ian Colletti, Lucy Griffiths, W. Earl Brown, Elizabeth Perkins, Tom Brooke, Jamie Anne Allman, Derek Wilson, Ricky Mabe, and Jackie Earle Haley.

AMC airs the first episode of Preacher on Sunday, May 22 at 10pm.
