A while back we heard talk about Platinum Dunes producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form kicking around an original script/movie idea titled THE HORSEMAN. Today Variety is reporting that not only was the talk true, but that project is a go!
Beyond the fact that THE HORSEMAN a go, it even has a cast and a director on board- that was quick! The flick’s set to star Dennis Quaid and Ziyi Zhang, and will be directed by Jonas Akerlund, who has (surprise surprise) a slew of music videos under his belt. To be co-produced by Mandate Pictures, THE HORSMAN revolves around Quaid, a bitter detective grieving over his wife’s recent death. While investigating a case, he discovers a shocking connection between himself and the suspects in a serial killing spree linked to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
Sure, you couldn’t get vaguer if you tried, but the overall premise sounds interesting. My only problem is that I can’t really take Quaid seriously. I don’t know what it is, maybe it’s all the Disney crap like YOURS, MINE & OURS that has skewed my image of the dude, but to me he’s just kind of goofy. Maybe he’ll redeem himself here, and let the world know he isn’t a schmuck.
No word on when productions set to start or what release date they’re aiming for, but you can rest assured to know that we’ll keep you posted as soon as we find out. In the mean time, scroll below and oogle at Zhang’s hotness. Sha-wing!
