We missed this last week, but singer/actress/legs AJ Michalka (SECRETARIAT, THE LOVELY BONES) announced via Twitter that she’ll be joining the suddenly burgeoning cast of JJ Abrams’ mysterious sci-fi 80s throwback SUPER 8.
AJ’s tweet: Amazing news! I was just cast in J.J. Abrams’ and Steven Spielberg’s highly anticipated film Super 8 🙂
Michalka joins Kyle Chandler (KING KONG), Elle Fanning (SOMEWHERE), Ron Eldard (BLACK HAWK DOWN), and Noah Emmerich (LITTLE CHILDREN), as well as Gabriel Basso, Joel Courtney, Riley Griffiths, Ryan Lee, and Zach Mills. As far as what the film’s about? Your guess is as good as mine, though I’d say it’ll likely involve aliens, children, and perhaps some good old-fashioned Spielbergian sentimentality.
SUPER 8 is due out Summer 2011.
