While on the whole, Ti West’s halcyon horror throwback HOUSE OF THE DEVIL didn’t cull many recommendations around these parts, there’s no denying the technical ability the man has demonstrated. DEVIL felt like a film right out of 1981, and for that, the man deserves at least some kudos. And since disowning CABIN FEVER 2: SPRING FEVER after being replaced mid-shoot (only to partially reclaiming credit), we thought we’d have to wait awhile to see what the dude is up to next. Well, no more. Variety is reporting Ti West will next direct a haunted hotel outing called THE INKEEPERS.
Currently prepping the project, West’s new foray will be about the last two staffers of a haunted hotel that’s going out of business. THE INKEEPERS is said by West to be a “truly terrifying” follow up to HOUSE OF THE DEVIL.
Dark Sky Films will produce along with Larry Fessenden’s Glass Eye Pix. Fessenden, a horror writer/director in his own right, has long championed West’s filmmaking career, having produced both THE ROOST and HOUSE OF THE DEVIL prior to this project.
According to IMDB, West is also in pre-production on THE HAUNTING IN GEORGIA and LOSERS TAKE ALL.
HOUSE OF THE DEVIL hits DVD Feb. 2nd (and is also available on VHS as a promo novelty).
Filming on THE INKEEPER will commence in Connecticut this spring.
