One flick that’s been gaining a lot of buzz lately is the Eli Roth produced flick THE LAST EXORCISM. Probably the main reason for this is that wicked trailer that popped up last month. That thing hit the net like wildfire and had everyone talking about this little excorcism flick. So what now?

Well the flick doesn’t hit theaters until August 27th but that’s not stopping it’s producer from talking shop with TMZ. That’s right ladies and gents, TMZ recently caught up with genre maestro Eli Roth and asked the horror filmmaker about the film. Actually they asked him about his f*cked up foot, which was attacked by a sea urchin recently, then proceeded to ask the man about THE LAST EXORCISM. Roth went on to praise the project (duh) and then started talking about the comparison between THE LAST EXORCISM and THE EXORCIST. It’s inevitable right? People are going to compare the two films, so why not just jump right to the chase?

Roth does go on to praise THE EXORCIST and says that THE LAST EXORCISM never trys to mimic the classic film. He talks about how the idea was never to copy the genre classic but instead try and create a project that can stand on it’s own. Don’t take my word for it though, head on over to TMZ to hear the Roth-man tell you himself!

When he arrives on the rural Louisiana farm of Louis Sweetzer, the Reverend Cotton Marcus expects to perform just another routine “exorcism” on a disturbed religious fanatic. An earnest fundamentalist, Sweetzer has contacted the charismatic preacher as a last resort, certain his teenage daughter Nell is possessed by a demon who must be exorcized before their terrifying ordeal ends in unimaginable tragedy.

Buckling under the weight of his conscience after years of parting desperate believers with their money, Cotton and his crew plan to film a concessionary documentary of this, his last exorcism. But upon arriving at the already blood-drenched family farm, it is soon clear that nothing could have prepared him for the true evil he encounters there. Now, too late to turn back, Reverend Marcus’ own beliefs are shaken to the core when he and his crew must find a way to save Nell – and themselves – before it is too late.

THE LAST EXORCISM comes from director Daniel Stamm and stars Ashley Bell, Patrick Fabian, Iris Bahr, Jamie Alyson Caudle, Shanna Forrestall (below), Louis Herthum, Allen Boudreaux, Tony Bentley, Caleb Landry Jones, Denise Lee, Becky Fly and Logan Craig Reid. The film hits theaters on August 27th!
