I love it when a trailer blows me away. All the shittiness in my life disappears for about two minutes and thirty seconds, and I forget about the fact that I she doesn’t love me anymore (of course when the trailer ends it’s depressing as all hell). THE HUNTING PARTY has one of those trailers. It’s about three journalists, played by Richard Gere, Jesse Eisenberg, and Terrence Howard who decide to take matters into their own hands and track down a deadly Bosnian war criminal, in order to collect the bounty on his head.
The movie blends some acerbic wit and banter with some heavy drama and realistic battle scenes. But we’re not watching soldiers at war here. These are ordinary men caught in a crossfire. Always compelling cinema. Plus there’s that swelling orchestral score at the end, during all the character head shots (it peaks around the time they show Joy Bryant’s head). It’s emotional stuff.
