There are only around 300,000 people in Iceland, and apparently one of them is going to be Mark Wahlberg.
The actor, who got accustomed to chilly winters from his Beantown upbringing, is heading to the subpolar island for a remake of the recent acclaimed thriller REYKJAVIK-ROTTERDAM (Iceland’s foreign language Oscar submission for next year).
The synopsis of the original: A security guard and former alcohol smuggler on the Iceland-Netherlands route who is tempted back into illicit business by a dubious friend after encountering financial problems.
Working Title and Wahlberg’s production company Leverage (“Entourage”) are putting the project together, with the original movie’s star Baltasar Kormakur attached as director on the remake. Writer Aaron Guzikowski (of the upcoming PRISONERS, which Wahlberg was once attached to) is working on the script.
