You guys remember the vicious Australian flick PRIMAL? It’s that gore-filled flick coming at us from director Josh Reed. The last update came way back at the beginning of February, when Jake gave us all a look at the trailer for the film. Ringing any bells? Well let me refresh your memory.

Anja and five friends join anthropology student, Dace, on a journey to study a remote, ancient rock painting. Their excitement vanishes when Mel becomes delirious after skinny-dipping in the waterhole. Feverish, bleeding, confused, she physically and mentally regresses to a vicious predatory state. Mel has gone primal.

Mel’s lover and friends realize they are the prey as she savagely hunts them down. Before they can escape another one of them starts to regress, posing a hideous choice; kill their friends or be killed by them. Their only hope of survival is through a cave, where Anja learns too late the meaning of the ancient rock art they came to study.

Ahhh so now you know what I’m talking about, right? And chances are you’re at least a little bit excited, if not completely stoked for this shite already! Well today I’ve got some great news if you fall under either of those categories! According to Screen Daily, IFC Films just scored the US distribution rights to PRIMAL at this year’s Cannes! Not only that, but apparently Anolis scored the flick for Germany as well. Nice! Cannes just kicked off and we’re already starting to see things happen!

PRIMAL comes from director Josh Reed and stars Krew Boylan (below), Ch’aska Cuba de Reed, Santiago Cuba de Reed, Lindsay Farris, Rebekah Foord, Damien Freeleagus, Stephen Shanahan, Wil Traval and Zoe Tuckwell-Smith.

So are you guys excited? It looks like we’ll be seeing PRIMAL here in the US before year’s end! Though unfortunately no solid dates have been announced. As always, we’ll be on the lookout for any other PRIMAL news so be sure to keep checking back for more as we hear it!
