Somehow I missed the article in May we wrote about Alexandre Courtes’ awesome sounding horror flick THE INCIDENT, which at the time, had become the territorial property of Showbox and Koch Media. Now, some 4 months later, North American distributors have come into play!

Word from Deadline is IFC Midnight landed U.S. rights to THE INCIDENT, a film said to be so harsh that it caused two people to faint during a screening at TIFF. An ambulance was apparently deployed.

Written by feature first timers S. Craig Zahler and Jerome Fansten, THE INCIDENT centers on three fledgling rock band members who moonlight as cooks in a high-security asylum. When a freak storm blows the asylum’s security system, its criminal patients are unleashed and the rockers become trapped.

Not sure about you, but I really dig that simple set-up. And with IFC seeing potential in this sucker, like the VOD outlet has done for so many others, we can be encouraged THE INCIDENT is going to kick some major ass. Just look at IFC Midnight’s track-record!
