Giant monster movies have changed a lot over the last couple of decades, with actors in rubber suits having been phased out in favor CGI. While both are far from perfect, it’s cool to see a film going back to its roots. Case in point: Squire Film Shoppe’s THE MILLENNIUM BUG.
What strikes me about the picture is not only the fact that monster suits and miniature sets are utilized, but it’s also pretty cool that the film is posed as a backwoods cannibal flick before the monsters arrive. Check out the trailer below, along with a teaser poster. Here is the synopsis:
When the Haskin family seeks refuge from Y2K hysteria in the isolated forests of the Sierra Diablos mountains, madness and terror find them there. Abducted by a vicious hillbilly clan, the Haskins fight for survival, but neither they nor the hillbilly Crawfords can comprehend the monstrous nightmare about to erupt from the bowels of the earth.
The movie is written and directed by Kenneth Cran. It stars Jon Briddell, Adam Brooks, Christine Haeberman, Trek Loneman, Ken MacFarlane, John Charles Meyer, Ian Pfister, Ginger Pullman, Ben Seton, Jessica Simons, Sandi Steinberg, Benjamin Watts and Dustin Yoder. The flick is currently in post-production for a release later this year.
