This could be the dark horse hit of the summer. Luc Besson’s LUCY looks like an extreme guilty pleasure, with Scarlett Johansson playing a woman who unlocks the entirety of her brain’s potential and turns into a superhero/assassin/demigod. I think it’s safe to say most of us would watch Scarlett in literally anything, but to see her playing in the preposterous, bullet-riddled world of Besson is just too good to be true.

It also doesn’t hurt that she’s got Morgan Freeman on her side, as well as OLDBOY‘s Choi Min-Sik playing the baddie. Sign me up, now.

LUCY is an action-thriller that tracks a woman accidentally caught in a dark deal who turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.

LUCY opens August 8th.
