INT: Adam McKay

JoBloJoBlo

Adam McKay has a very strong working relationship with funnyman, Will Ferrell. From ANCHORMAN: THE LEGEND OF RON BURGUNDY to TALEDEGA NIGHTS: THE BALLAD OR RICKY BOBBY, the two have made a whole bunch of people laugh pretty heartily. Well he is back now, re-teaming Mr. Ferrell with John C. Reilly in STEP BROTHERS, a comedy about… well, step brothers. When this was in production and I had the opportunity to visit the set, I had such a great time watching Mr. McKay direct, he is easily just as funny as any of his actors so it is no surprise he does comedy well.

Sitting down with him, I was very pleased to hear that he is a fan of JoBlo. And I was also very happy to talk to Adam again. We talked about how he went about writing this situational comedy with all sorts of physical attached. From the bunk bed nightmare to being buried alive, there are quite a few stunts considering that this is really about how two families deal with each others quirks. And of course, I had to mention the absolute implausibility of Mary Steenburgen being Will Ferrell’s mother… I don’t buy it. But this Friday, check out STEP BROTHERS at a theatre near you and you’ll see what I mean.
