The Arrow
interviews Scott J. Moutter

Seventeen
year old Scott James Moutter
was born in Wolver Hampton
near Nottingham in
England. He recently got the chance to play with the big boys, Matthew McConaughey and Christian Bale, in this summer’s
dragon action flick “Reign of Fire”. Here’s what the young lad had to say about the gnarly experience.

1- Would you consider yourself to be a big
Sci-Fi/Horror fan? If so, can you name some of your favorites?

Yes, I am a huge fan of sci-fi and horror
films. I especially liked Jurassic Park and all the Alien movies. I
can’t wait for the new Freddy vs. Jason movie too.

2-How did you fall into acting? Was it by fluke or did you always
want to do it?

Definitely a fluke, I’ve always wanted to be
a football (soccer) player. It’s actually my younger sister, Sheree,
who has studied dancing, acting and singing. But one day, she
couldn’t go to an audition so I went instead and landed the lead
role in a BBC mini-series, In a Land of Plenty. Priscilla
John, who is a very famous casting agent, saw In a Land of Plenty
and got me an audition with Reign of Fire’s director, Rob Bowman.

3-
How many times did you have to audition for the part of “Jared”? Was it a long strenuous process or did you get cast
fairly quickly?

I actually met the director just once! I
didn’t think I got the part because we only talked for 15 minutes.
But then the next day, I was back in school when the secretary came
in and asked me to come out. My dad had stopped by the school to let
me now I had the part! I had heard that I beat out Jamie Bell (Billy
Elliot) for the part so I was really surprised.

4- What was it about the script that appealed to you when you
first read it?

Well, I love
sci-fi/fantasy and I also really liked that the part of Jared was a
good and substantial role. Also, everyone in England knows Christian
Bale from “American Psycho”
, so it was a real treat to play his adopted
son.

5- This was your first big Blockbuster. How exciting was it to be
on a set of this magnitude?

It was very exciting! Unbelievable at times
because the castle was built from the ground-up. The location was
like another world!

6-
Do you have a funny set story that you can share with us?

Actually, I was filming a scene where I
was looking after the horse but the horse started weeing half way
through, and it was just missing me, but the spray of it was going
all down the side of my trousers and then Matthew, Christian and I
just burst out laughing.

7- What was your hardest scene to shoot on any level and why??

Surprisingly,
the horse riding scenes were difficult because I only had a week to
learn how to ride.

8- Did you learn anything from watching film veterans such as
Christian and Matthew do their thing?

They’re both really wonderful people and
great actors with very different styles. Christian is very professional and quiet. He is always prepared.
Because we’re both British, we’d have lots to talk about. Matthew is very
American, funny and outgoing. He’s good at
improvising with props and things. It was his idea to have his hair
shaved like that.

9-
What’s next on your plate, any other film projects in the
works?

I’ve just been
offered a lead role in the Channel Four mini-series Buried, about a
gang of juvenile delinquents on the streets of Manchester! I’m still
working at my acting workshops and learning different

10- In a few words, describe what you hope Reign of Fire will
deliver to audiences around the world.

I hope people will enjoy Reign of Fire. It’s
a smart action movie but it also has a lot of humor in it. Seeing the movie in a cinema, everyone is awestruck by those dragons
as well. It’s really 2 hours of being in another world!

I’d like to t
hank
Scott for taking the time to drop by the site. Congrats on this
solid gig, duder! Kick that dragon and Hollywood ass!
