Rhys Ifans is Dr. Curt Connors, confidant and friend to Peter Parker, in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN. Ifans is also The Lizard, Spider-Man’s mutated enemy and insidious threat to the city of New York. A difficult dual role, especially considering one was performed in front of a green screen and subsequently transformed into a computer-enhanced monster, but for the actor it was just another day at the office.

In person, Ifans is anything but a stomping, growling beast. (Though he’s no meek scientist, either.) A rather unassuming Welshman with a filmography consisting primarily of UK features, a fair number of them period dramas, Ifans may not immediately profile as a superhero movie villain, but neither did Alfred Molina or Heath Ledger.
