Iron Man 3 soundtrack details, plus China to get an exclusive alternate cut of the movie

So those IRON MAN 3 scenes filmed in China are not just additions to the final film but in fact part of an entirely alternate cut of the movie. In fact, China will be getting a radically different version of the Marvel movie. IRON MAN 3 represents a new era for Hollywood movies as the Asian market will continue to grow as the number one consumer of American films outside of the United States.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Chinese cut of IRON MAN 3 will differ greatly from what we will see here in North America.

All cuts will feature scenes shot in Beijing, product placement Chinese electronics manufacturer TCL, and co-star A-Lister Wang Xueqi, but a special version cut for the world’s most populous nation will also boast “specially prepared bonus footage” and an appearance by megastar Fan Bingbing.

I hope that we get to see this alternate cut of the film on a Blu-ray release of IRON MAN 3, mainly because I want to see how different it truly is. Judging from the international trailer, we have the additional characters and scenes in Beijing, but how do they fit into the narrative structure of the movie? I get that the villain is The Mandarin, but will this somehow tie into his Chinese roots? It remains to be seen.

The other IRON MAN 3 news is the reveal of the tracklisting for the soundtrack. This appears to differ greatly from the IRON MAN 2 soundtrack which seemed to exclusively feature AC/DC songs. This new soundtrack “inspired by” the movie is subtitled “Heroes Fall” and is made up entirely of indie rock bands. I recognized about half of these bands right away and, while I am not sure they exactly seem very IRON MAN-like, they will definitely have more marketability with the target demographic than AC/DC did. Check out the tracklisting below.

1. “Ready Aim Fire” – Imagine Dragons
2. “Some Kind of Joke” – AWOLNATION
3. “Some Kind of Monster” – Neon Trees
4. “American Blood” – Passion Pit
5. “No Time” – Rogue Wave
6. “One Minute More” – Capital Cities
7. “Back To The Start” – Mr Little Jeans
8. “Keep Moving” – Andrew Stockdale (of Wolfmother)
9. “Redemption” – Redlight King
10. “Big Bad Wolves” – Walk The Moon
11. “BAD GUY” 3OH!3
12. “Let’s Go All The Way” – The Wondergirls featuring Ashley Hamilton and Robbie Williams

IRON MAN 3 will open here in North America on May 3, 2013 and in China on April 25, 2013. The soundtrack will hit stores April 30th.
