UPDATE: A representative for Ryan Gosling has e-mailed the Huffington Post saying the report that the actor has met with the STAR WARS production team is "not true." Of course if it was true would they tell us? No word from Zac Efron's camp about the rumor, but hopefully there's at least some truth to Leonardo DiCaprio possibly starring in ROBOTECH. That shit just sounds awesome.

Star Wars

Original: Disney's D23 Expo is about three weeks away and many expect some sort of announcement for STAR WARS: EPISODE VII. It could be casting news, a short plot synopsis or maybe concept art, but most believe that Disney will definitely be revealing more about the new STAR WARS film at D23.

Casting for STAR WARS: EPISODE VII is going to be one of the most important things for the film, and there's a rumor that two actors with previous ties to the Mouse House are being looked at by Disney. A source for Latino-Review (the same one who correctly informed them that EPISODE VII was going to be filming in Pinewood Studios) has told the site that the two names floating around right now for parts in the film are Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron.

Gosling and Efron

According to their source it isn't known who Efron would be playing in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII, but Gosling apparently might be up for the part of Luke Skywalker's son. The source also claims that Disney was interested in Leonardo DiCaprio for STAR WARS: EPISODE VII, but DiCaprio passed on a role in the film because he is interested in a project called ROBOTECH, a sci-fi epic about an alien invasion and (obviously) robots.

Their source might be correct, but he also could have just picked two popular names that made sense and ran with it. It isn't surprising to see Gosling's name pop-up since he has been mentioned for what seems like every major movie role lately. Efron might not be in the same league as Ryan Gosling, but once again it's not a shocker to hear he might be up for a part in EPISODE VII.

Hopefully we'll know more once Disney has D23, but what do you guys think? I'm sure most of you are fine with Ryan Gosling, but what about Zac Efron? Has he done enough to prove to you he's worthy of being part of STAR WARS?

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII is scheduled to hit theaters in 2015.
