Is there a Battle: Los Angeles sequel on the way?

In an interview with Collider for WRATH OF THE TITANS (March 30th, folks!), director Jonathan Liebesman was kind enough to give this answer when pressed if there would be a sequel to his relatively successful alien invasion flick:

“We’ve just started the script now, so that’s where we are. We have just begun the script. Just because I don’t want the studio to get pissed at me, I’m not sure what I can and can’t say about it. But what’s exciting is it sounds like the budget will be as big. They’re really going to make it an event.”

So long as Aaron Eckhart is there, I’ll be there.  While BATTLE: LOS ANGELES was entertaining enough on its own, I’ll turn out for most anything Eckhart sees fit to involve himself in (and he’s already said that he’s interested).  But I wouldn’t hold your breath for more news, as if Liebesman first has to shoot NINJA TURTLES before he could return to direct a BATTLE: LOS ANGELES sequel.  More as we hear it!

In other news, Eckhart’s co-star Michelle Rodriguez is very intense…
