Ruben Fleischer’s GANGSTER SQUAD pulls out all the stops. If the cast doesn’t immediately get your attention, then the trailers are there to give the one-two punch.
We’ve already had two previous trailers for the film, and as for this latest one, it basically serves as a reminder. A reminder of what exactly? How potentially awesome this thing might be. I’m a sucker for any mobster/gangster type films. I really wish there were more out there. The lives of mobsters are just sort of fascinating to me.
There’s some new footage here for you to feast your eyes on. My fellow editor, Paul and I were just discussing how the focus of the trailer seems to be more on Ryan Gosling than Sean Penn this time, and deciding who is the real star of this thing— Brolin or Gosling? For good measure, they’ve added more Emma Stone. Not that I would imagine anyone complaining about that.

Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and–if he has his way–every wire bet placed west of Chicago.
