A couple weeks back, Mr. Ammon let you all in on the cast announcement for the upcoming monster mash MANEATER. Today, those fine fiends over at Fango scored the first pic of said monster, called “the Windigo”. Just cast you eyes up top. Honestly, when I first caught a glimpse of this white-eyed beast, I couldn’t help thinking that it was the Crypt Keeper. Anyone feel the same? That’s not to say our MANEATER doesn’t look menacingly creepy, especially with that huge hunk of flesh in its hands. And he also does appear to be wearing one sharp, black collared-shirt. For now, take another look at the plot:
HARRY BAILEY, former FBI profiler and now sheriff of tiny Butte’s Creek in Canada, has his hands full raising his beautiful 18 year old daughter, PEARL, alone since the disappearance of his wife, MARGIE, nine years ago–a disappearance that still haunts him. Harry has a habit of visualizing the crimes he’s asked to investigate but when several people die a horrific death from the attack of a mythical creature called the Windigo, Harry’s dreams take on a disturbing turn, causing him to believe he himself might be the attacker…
Could be interesting. And that name, Harry Bailey… I wonder if scripters Michael Emanuel and John K. Anderson are fans of IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE. Sorry for the non-horror reference, but that name always rings a bell with me because it’s the Mrs.’s favorite flick (and we have used her ratings scale before). Man all this Labor Day brew is sure starting to take effect! Anyways, MANEATER was directed by Jason Tomaric and stars Dean Cain, Conrad Janis, Stephen Lunsford, Walter Phelan, Maximillian Roeg, and Lacy Phillips. The flick recently wrapped, but there’s no word on an exact release date.
