Despite the Oscar race having just ended, people are already talking about next year's awards ceremony and who could be up for a golden statue. If the following is to be believed, we may see Mark Hamill in attendance! FORCE AWAKENS director J.J. Abrams attended the Oscar Wilde Awards and had a bit to say to the NY Daily News regarding Hamill's performance in STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI. Hyperbole or genuine praise, I'll let you decide!

J.J. Abrams on Mark Hamill's performance in THE LAST JEDI:

I think we are all going to be very upset if he does not win an Oscar, and no one more upset than Mark.

Abrams also went on to say that, "He is hysterically funny. He has done comedy. He is an amazing guy – he can do anything.” That much is true! Hamill has always been a super talented guy and I've loved his work over the years. STAR WARS isn't exactly known for its gripping performances, no matter how great, so I won't be holding my breath to see if a nomination comes his way. Still, this news does have me even more excited to see what Luke Skywalker will be up to in the next installment!

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI opens in theaters on December 15, 2017.
