J.A. Bayona The Orphanage

J.A. Bayona is currently gearing up to direct the next JURASSIC PARK / JURASSIC WORLD sequel, but as he heads into blockbuster territory he's still keeping in touch with his supernatural horror roots. The director of THE ORPHANAGE (pictured above), who was also at the helm of the first two episodes of Penny Dreadful, is on board to executive produce MARROWBONE, a film to be written and directed by Sergio G. Sanchez.

MARROWBONE centers on

a young man and his four younger siblings plagued by a sinister presence in the sprawling manor where they live and have kept secret the death of their beloved mother in order to remain together.

This will mark the feature directorial debut of Sanchez, who wrote THE ORPHANAGE and Bayona's drama/thriller THE IMPOSSIBLE.

Currently in pre-production, MARROWBONE is being produced by Belén Atienza, Álvaro Augustin, and Ghislain Barrois.
