After setting Prime Video subscription aflame with the series adaptation of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, the character returns with John Krasinski reprising the titular role of the action-savvy CIA analyst. Wendell Pierce (The Wire) joins the project as his fan-favorite character, James Greer, with Michael Kelly in negotiations to reprise the role of Mike November. The alum list includes Andrew Bernstein, who served as an executive producer and director on season two of the series and returns to direct from a screenplay by Jack Ryan creative Aaron Rabin.

Led by John Krasinski, Jack Ryan brings Tom Clancy’s classic literary property into modern times. The series ran for four seasons on Prime Video, where it streamed like gangbusters, polishing Krasinski’s already glowing star. In addition to reprising his featured role, Krasinski is producing the Jack Ryan movie alongside Allyson Seeger through their Sunday Night studio. Andrew Form also produces.

Bernstein recently directed multiple episodes of Welcome to Derry, a 1960s-set prequel to Stephen King’s It, focusing on events leading up to Pennywise the Clown’s horrifying return to the sleepy town. As for Rabin, he’s a contributing writer for Nobody 2, starring Bob Odenkirk as Hutch Mansell, a former lethal assassin who is pulled back into his violent past after thwarting a home invasion, setting off a chain of events that unravels secrets about his wife Becca’s past and his own.

What do you think about John Krasinski and the primary members of the Jack Ryan cast returning for a feature-length film? Do you think the plot will pick up where Season 4 left off, or will the script welcome new viewers without researching the series? Are there other characters you hope will return for the upcoming film? With new action movies announced daily, seeing if the Jack Ryan movie will rise above the rabble will be interesting. John Krasinski is a significant draw, of course, and with a pre-existing fanbase, the character’s next adventure could become his most epic assignment ever.
