REFER MADNESS was one of the first movies that showed youths all the horrible things what would happen to them if they decided to smoke the bubonic chronic- in attempts to keep kids off of drugs. Of course, the movie was a giant lie, and completely unrealistic- weed does not make you insane! But apparently crack and heroin will!
Awhile back we told you about moreLions Gate releases (click HERE for story), and yesterday they released their drugs-are-bad horror opus THE JACKHAMMER MASSACRE to DVD, just in time for the holidays! Directed by Joe Castro (LEGEND OF THE CHUPACABRA), and starring a list of no-names, the film takes a dark look at what drug addiction can do to a person- like turn them into a jackhammer-wielding psycho! Here’s the official synopsis:
Jack Magnus, once a successful businessman, is now so badly addicted to drugs, that he can barely function. The drug dealer wants to kill him, his boss has fired him and his family has deserted him. Drugs have forced him into a paranoid psychosis so deep he believes his dead buddy Mike is his only friend in the world. Jack also believes that the D.E.A. and other supernatural authorities are out to kill him. The only way to save himself is to get them before they get him in an all-out, blood spattering, killing spree.
Originally titled JACKHAMMER by Slaughterhouse Cinema, Inc., the film was released last January in a few select theaters- and was picked up by Lions Gate for DVD distribution. You can check out the original trailer HERE to fill your bucket of curiosity that this one brings to the plate.
I love the title, but the trailer looks pretty dang hokey- hopefully Lions Gate vamped it up a bit for the DVD. So if you have some time to kill over the weekend, or if you’re thinking about dropping the habit, check out THE JACKHAMMER MASSACRE before you light up- it might just scare you straight (or make you break down with laughter…).
