No matter how many think pieces have been written or Twitter outrages been posted, the AVATAR sequels – all four of them – are making their way to theaters. Director James Cameron is not messing around with this series and is blasting through production, but he did manage to take a little break to offer an update on where they’re at in terms of shooting. Turns out any long wait for the movies will be thanks to the visual effects work, as the main cast has already done their job and bounced out of Pandora.

While introducing yesterday’s new trailer for ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL – which he produced – Cameron revealed that the principal cast, including Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang and Kate Winslet have all wrapped on the sequels. Already. Totally done.
"Today we’re capturing some stunt scenes, but our principle cast are all wrapped – Sam, Zoe, Sigourney, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet – they’re done now but they gave us incredible performances, and I can’t tell you how proud I am of the work they did on these films,” he said in the video.
It was only about two weeks ago that Weaver revealed she was working on the AVATAR movies, and that they had finished the second and third movies, but that she was “busy doing Avatar 4 and 5.” The way Cameron says it, though, the main cast must now be done with all four films.
Even though the first of the planned four new movies doesn’t come out until December 2020 we already have a decent bit of info about the sequels. The biggest news to come out about them is the supposed titles, with each reportedly being called AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER, AVATAR: THE SEED BEARER, AVATAR: THE TULKUN RIDER, AVATAR: THE QUEST FOR EYWA. Kudos to any of you who made it through that without a chuckle.
