Stranger Things 2

Genre filmmaker James Wan and Stranger Things producer Shawn Levy are teaming up to produce (through their respective companies Atomic Monster and 21 Laps) a coming-of-age slasher called THERE'S SOMEONE INSIDE YOUR HOUSE for Netflix.

The project is based on the bestselling novel by YA author Stephanie Perkins, and can be broken down to a very familiar description. The story follows

a young girl whose high school friends inexplicably begin to die in a series of gruesome murders.

Wan is not currently expected to direct the film, which is said to be aiming for a tone similar to Stranger Things. Deadline's report says to "think 1980s and ’90s slasher movie meets a John Hughes coming-of-age tale like THE BREAKFAST CLUB."

21 Laps' Dan Cohen and Atomic Monster's Michael Clear will also be producing THERE'S SOMEONE INSIDE YOUR HOUSE alongside Wan and Levy.

Henry Gayden is writing the screenplay adaptation of Perkins' novel. A more detailed description of the novel's story:

More than a year after her parents sent her away from Hawaii to live with her grandmother in landlocked Nebraska, Makani Young is still adjusting to her new life. She’s made a small group of close friends and even flirted with romance, but her past in Hawaii is still hard to forget. And then… one by one the students of her new high school begin to die in a series of gruesome murders. Makani doesn’t know who’s next on the list. Between this, and a secret scorching relationship with the school weirdo, this school year may turn out to be one to die for… literally.

I'm always down to check out a new slasher, and the creative team behind this one makes THERE'S SOMEONE INSIDE YOUR HOUSE a guaranteed watch for me. I'm looking forward to seeing how it will turn out.
