Jamie Foxx on Max Dillon’s look and Electro’s voice in The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Max Dillon/Electro

When the first images surfaced of Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 there were a lot of  opinions on how the character looked. Some thought it was fine, others thought it was too nerdy and many thought he looked just like Val Kilmer in THE SAINT.

The actor was on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno last night and Foxx talked a little about Max Dillon's look for the movie. He didn't go into why the character looks like he's auditioning for a reboot of REVENGE OF THE NERDS but did say that for Max Dillon's appearance he told his hairstylist (his sister who also did work on him for DJANGO UNCHAINED and RAY) that he wanted to be the first black guy with a comb over and made to look like he would if the actor had never become famous. Well Mr. Foxx, I think she succeeded.

Jamie Foxx also debuted his Electro voice on the late-night show. He only does two lines in the voice but it's pretty much the standard bad guy growling/threatening tone you'd expect from a super villain. You can hear the voice and watch the full interview involving THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 here. Oh and you'll also be able to see Jay Leno ask Jamie Foxx if the picture of the actor in the Electro make-up is him doing whiteface. Yeah that happens.

The recent spoiler about Colm Feore's role in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 (and what might be planned for the third film) has definitely increased my interest in the next movie and beyond. It's going to be interesting to see if director Marc Webb will be able to pull something off that Spidey fans have been wanting to see for a long time.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Dane DeHaan, Jamie Foxx, Paul Giamatti, Chris Cooper, Sally Field and Felicity Jones swings into theaters on May 2nd, 2014.
