Jamie Lee Curtis only did Halloween H20 for the paycheck

This Halloween, we will see the return of Jamie Lee Curtis to her iconic role as Laurie Strode in Blumhouse's direct sequel to John Carpenter's original classic HALLOWEEN. But we've already seen Curtis return to the role of Laurie Strode in the past, haven't we? Yes, we did with FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2 and FRIDAY THE 13TH PART III director Steve Miner's HALLOWEEN H20: TWENTY YEARS LATER

Curtis keeps saying how happy she is to return as Laurie in co-writer Danny McBride and director David Gordon Green's HALLOWEEN. But how did she feel about taking on the character of Laurie again in Miner's HALLOWEEN H20? Well, it turns out that she only did it for the paycheck. Ouch. Yes, in a recent interview with Variety, Curtis says that while the film started out with the best intentions, it quickly devolved into just another job.

Jamie Lee Curtis:

‘H20’ started out with best intentions, but it ended up being a money gig. The film had some good things in it. It talked about alcoholism and trauma, but I ended up really doing it for the paycheck.

Personally, I have never been much of a fan of HALLOWEEN H20, even as a kid. I was pretty young when the film first hit the screens and I was excited to see a new HALLOWEEN film. But in the end, the movie is little more than an (extremely) standard 90's slasher flick. I don't hate the movie by any means, but I can see how it was, in hindsight, merely a money-gig for those involved.

Written by Robert Zappia and Matt Greenberg HALLOWEEN H20 begins:

Two decades after surviving a massacre on October 31, 1978, former babysitter Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) finds herself hunted by persistent knife-wielder Michael Myers. Laurie now lives in Northern California under an assumed name, where she works as the headmistress of a private school. But it's not far enough to escape Myers, who soon discovers her whereabouts. As Halloween descends upon Laurie's peaceful community, a feeling of dread weighs upon her — with good reason.

Kevin Williamson (SCREAM) provided rewrites on the film and even came up with the paramedic storyline that explained how Michael survived the ending, which was filmed after principal photography and later slapped into HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION.
