Jane visits Dark Country

Thomas Jane is a pretty cool cat as it turns out. Not only is he THE PUNISHER (well, he was for one installment), and set to do battle against THE MIST – he’s also a comic-book geek and horror aficionado (he runs a company called RAW Entertainment with the legendary Steve Niles).

He can now add “director of 3D movies” to his resume! Jane is gearing up to direct DARK COUNTRY, a thriller budgeted at $5 million, and he told Shock To You Drop guru Ryan Rotten a bit about the plot. Actually A LOT about the plot, which focuses on a newlywed couple:

“They come across a body in the road who seems to be a terrible accident. He’s still alive, so they pick him up and try to find a hospital. The guy wakes up in the backseat terrified and freaked-out, wondering if people are after him. [The couple are] trying to get the story out of him but he’s been horribly wounded. He’s just a mess, broken and bloody. He starts talking all paranoid and then attacks the husband. Tries to kill him. They almost crash the car. The husband – our hero – picks up a rock and ends up killing the guy and they don’t know what to do with him. So, they start to panic and bury him out in the desert. Everything goes downhill from there.”

Weird, things usually go UPHILL for me when stuff like that happens, but some people who use rocks to crush other people’s skulls are just luckier than others, I guess.

The flick is being shot in 3D, but will be able to be shown in 2D format as well. Pretty neat I think, even if it doesn’t seem like your typical 3D type movie. Then again, we only know so much about it – hopefully we’ll get to see pies flying our direction during a hilarious pie-fight sequence!!

The best part of the interview is at the very end, where Jane says: “Up until now we’ve seen all of this PG-13 stuff so I want to do an R-rated adult-oriented 3D thriller.”

Kick that ass, Jane! To read the full interview, click it HERE.

(Actually, how friggin’ awesome would THE MIST be in 3D? Sigh, oh well – still looking forward to it like it’s Christmas)

Jane got to work alongside this in PUNISHER… Now I hate him…
