Jay Baruchel, who you may recall as one of many offbeat actors out of Judd Apatow’s comedy camp (and star of the soon to be released SHE’S OUT OF MY LEAGUE), has recently expressed his desire to direct a horror script he’s writing entitled PIG. Scope it…
While out promoting his new rom-com, Baruchel chattered with the folks at ComingSoon and offered a few tight lipped inklings about PIG, a potential next gig for the 27 year old TROPIC THUNDER star (writing gig that is, behind the 2011 slated hockey comedy GOON). Here’s what Baruchel (seen right) had to shell out:
“Without giving too much away, it’s a 21st century reimagining of the slasher film with a lot of socio-racial commentary, that’s all I’ll say.”
Wow. So like a George Romero picture with a slasher replacing zombies?
And for those who might be weary and chalk the above comment up to nothing more than boring junket flippancy, let’s this sucker soak in:
“I’m trying to get that going as best I can, ’cause all I want to do is direct horror movies in Montreal for the rest of my life.”
Double…f*ckin’ triple wow. Who the hell knew this dude had such a penchant for our beloved genre? Oh wait, he is starring in SHE’S OUT OF MY LEAGUE. Oh, I kid Jay…it’s all love!
So what do you all think? Would you watch a socio-racial slasher flick for the new millennium? You think Baruchel has learned enough on sets at this point to competently helm his own picture?
