Jen Aniston signs for Paul Rudd’s new Apatow comedy

JoBloJoBlo

You may have heard the news that former “The State” partners David Wain and Ken Marino were working on a script for Judd Apatow that would star Paul Rudd. We’ve got some additional news on the film today including word that Jennifer Aniston has signed on to co-star with Rudd in the film.

The project is called WANDERLUST and will star Rudd and Aniston as a married couple who lose all of their money and are forced to take refuge at a commune. In addition to starring in the film, Rudd will also produce and rewrite the Wain/Marino script (Wain, who directed Rudd in ROLE MODELS, will direct for Universal).

I’ve never been a huge Jennifer Aniston fan as far as comedies go, but for my money, ROLE MODELS is one of the great underrated comedies of the decade. Somehow this movie flew under the radar but I think I enjoyed it more than either FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL or I LOVE YOU MAN (and that should not be taken as an indicator for my enjoyment of Jason Segel).

Universal is eyeing a September start date for the film. Rudd can be seen this summer in DINNER FOR SCHMUCKS while Aniston just signed on to star in HORRIBLE BOSSES with Jason Bateman.
