Jeremy Renner was reportedly trying to save his nephew in the snow plow accident

Jeremy Renner’s 2023 is already an overwhelming one. The first day of the new year saw The Avengers star getting into a horrific accident, and fans have been getting steady updates on his recovery ever since. After it was revealed that Renner had broken around 30 bones in the ordeal, The Wrap gives details on the incident surrounding the accident. It is now being reported that Renner was attempting to save his nephew amid a snow plow sliding its way into hitting him.

The way the incident allegedly unfolded is that Renner was using a snow removal tractor to pull his nephew’s truck out of the snow, the plow started to slide sideways when the parking brake was not applied, and as the actor tried to stop the plow from sliding into his nephew, he was unfortunately pulled under it in the process and had gotten crushed.

CNN obtained the report through public records request, which read, “The PistenBully snow groomer began sliding causing Renner to exit the vehicle without setting the emergency brake. Although the PistenBully had some mechanical issues, it is believed based on our mechanical inspection that the parking brake would keep the PistenBully from moving forward. When Renner attempted to stop or divert the PistenBully to avoid injury to [his nephew], he was pulled under the vehicle by the track and run over.”

The report also indicates the brake light might have malfunctioned, and “mechanical issues may have been a factor in this accident.” Renner’s nephew was able to assist him before he was airlifted to the hospital where he would receive surgery and spend time in the ICU. According to the report, “The Pistenbully rolled over him and continued down the road. He laid on the ground and focused on his breathing while (his nephew and others) rendered aid to him until medical personnel arrived on scene.”

Renner’s latest post showed him being assisted by a physical therapist with the caption, “Morning workouts, resolutions all changed this particular new years …. Spawned from tragedy for my entire family, and quickly focused into uniting actionable love ❤️ I want to thank EVERYONE for their messages and thoughtfulness for my family and I …. Much love and appreciation to you all. These 30 plus broken bones will mend , grow stronger, just like the love and bond with family and friends deepens . Love and blessings to you all.”
