Earlier this week, I told you that CAMP HELL would hit DVD, digital download and video on demand on August 9 courtesy of Lionsgate Home Entertainment. In the few days following, the cover art has popped up; see it below. (Still no word on special features, but we’ll let you know.)
Unsurprisingly, the art features a giant picture Jesse Eisenberg’s mug. He’s not even the lead actor in the film – which was produced back in 2009 – but since finding great success with THE SOCIAL NETWORK, they’re going to use his image to try to sell copies. It’s a cheap marketing tactic, but it’s also a smart move.
In addition to Eisenberg, the cast also includes Dana Delany (below), Bruce Davison, Andrew McCarthy, Will Denton, Spencer Treat Clark and Connor Paolo. The film, based on true events of a New Jersey Christian community rocked by unseen evil, is written and directed by George VanBuskirk.
Camp Hope is a place where Christian children come together to share and study their faith. Deep in the woods and far from distraction, they learn how to better serve their maker and the perils of tangling with the Devil. Unfortunately their charismatic leader unknowingly leads them into a world of evil, and the nightmare begins, as each child’s body soon becomes possessed by something evil.
