J.C. Chandor's third directorial feature, A MOST VIOLENT YEAR, looks to show audiences a crime drama set in the early 80s in New York City. Statistically the most dangerous time period of that city's existence, this story will focus on immigrant Abel Morales' (Oscar Isaac) business and his attempt to capitalize on opportunities as the rampant violence, decay, and corruption of the day drag him in and threaten to destroy all his family has built. The film co-stars Jessica Chastain as his wife, and a trailer is here for your viewing pleasure.

If folks weren't familiar with the name Oscar Isaac when he was cast in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII, they sure will be by the the time that film comes out. Isaac has this film as well as EX MACHINA soon to be released and both look to give the actor some real meat to dig into. Chastain is no slouch either, after wowing audiences with her performance in ZERO DARK THIRTY, she can be seen taking part in Christopher Nolan's INTERSTELLAR come this Friday.  If anything, this film is sure to deliver genuine performances amidst its tale of crime and corruption.

A MOST VIOLENT YEAR will arrive in theaters on December 31, 2014.
