After a seven year break between movies, the SAW franchise is returning to theatres with a new sequel in less than two weeks. Longtime fans probably remember the philosophy of the game-playing Jigsaw quite well, but if you were a more casual SAW viewer maybe you’ll need a quick refresher. The Lionsgate marketing department has been kind enough to provide you with one, releasing a featurette online that contains some Jigsaw bullet points that have been delivered in dialogue over the course of the films… and as a bonus, this information on Jigsaw’s philosophy plays out over a montage of intense moments from all seven previous movies, building up to the latest installment, JIGSAW.

Directed by Michael and Peter Spierig from a screenplay by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger, JIGSAW begins with

bodies turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one man: John Kramer. But how can this be? The man known as Jigsaw has been dead for over a decade. Or has an apprentice picked up the mantle of Jigsaw, perhaps even someone inside the investigation?

Matt Passmore, Callum Keith Rennie, Clé Bennett, Hannah Emily Anderson, Laura Vandervoort, Mandela Van Peebles, Paul Braunstein, Brittany Allen, Josiah Black, and Tobin Bell star.

The “Jigsaw’s philosophy” featurette can be seen in the video below, where it is followed by the film’s trailer.

JIGSAW is scheduled to reach theatres on October 27th.
