Oh, yes, there will be blood… possibly in 3D! The latest “rumor trap” to be set off from SAW’s producers is that Lionsgate is looking into possibly taking Jigsaw into the on-screen third dimension! Perhaps the success and positive buzz surrounding MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D has piqued Jiggy’s peeps into considering this as an option. Or maybe they’re just running out of creative gimmicks.
I certainly hope that it’s not the latter, but after the drudgery that was SAW V, I can’t help pondering if the series is now running on fumes. Anyways, like I said before, this is only a rumor and most likely will not apply to the upcoming SAW VI with pre-production beginning soon for an October 23rd 2009 release date. I guess that means that Lionsgate is planning on continuing the Halloween SAW tradition even after the sixth installment (which I thought, or hoped, would be the finale of the series).
Seriously, my friends, how much further can Jigsaw go? How many flashbacks to previous films are left? And just so you know, these questions are coming from a big-time fan of the SAW films as a whole. I just don’t want to see it reproduce so many times that the idea of Jigsaw becomes stale or even comical. James Wan and Leigh Whannell laid down such a strong legacy for our genre and I’d hate to see it tarnished. With all that said, I’m curious: Would you guys be down with a SAW VI in 3D?
