A few days ago, we reported on the new After Dark Action films being released in May. Now we have some official images, posters, and a trailer!
First up we have TRANSIT, starring Jim Caviezel, James Frain, Elisabeth Rohm, Harold Parrineau and Sterling Silver. Plot: The family camping trip was meant to reunite the Sidwell family. It’s not. After being imprisoned for tax evasion, Nate Sidwell has lost the respect of his wife and his children. Then when he suspects their truck is being followed, he gets arrested for aggressive driving and has to spend a night in jail. Just when it seems the trip cannot get any worse, the Sidwells discover $4,000,000 cash in their luggage rack, and that Nate was wrong. They aren’t being followed. They’re being hunted – by four ruthless killers, who will stop at nothing to retrieve their millions.
Caviezel looks to be in the same mode as his character on the CBS show PERSONS OF INTEREST. Not that it is a bad thing. This movie reminds me of the old Kurt Russell flick BREAKDOWN. Families in jeopardy always make for good action.
Next we have DRAGON EYES starring Jean Claude Van Damme, Cung Le and Peter Weller. Welcome to St. Jude, a town where rival gangs rule the streets, where the chief of police is a cold-blooded killer, and where citizens have learned to keep their heads down. Then comes out-of-towner Ryan Hong. His vintage car attracts attention. His unbelievable marital arts skills cause a sensation. Sensing a human weapon, the rival gangs bid for Hong’s allegiance. But Hong is committed to honoring an old promise to a mentor he met in prison: that he will “do good” wherever possible. With a lethal combination of street smarts and martial arts, Hong vows to lift St. Jude’s citizens out of fear… even if he must turn into a one-man army to do it.
Personally, I am still a Van Damme fan. I have not seem much of his recent work aside from JCVD (which was great), but I remember the classic run of films and even his first role in NO RETREAT, NO SURRENDER. DRAGON EYES looks to be a good vehicle for Van Damme. With his upcoming appearance in THE EXPENDABLES 2, I hope we see more of the Muscles from Brussels.
