Sweet Tooth

I know a lot of people will think of the Twisted Metal character as soon as they see the name "Sweet Tooth", so I will say right up front: the project discussed in this article has nothing to do with Twisted Metal. Instead, this Sweeth Tooth is an adaptation of the DC Vertigo comic book that ran from 2009 to 2013 for a total of 40 issues.

Created by Jeff Lemire, Sweet Tooth was a

coming-of-age fable of Gus, a boy/deer hybrid who leaves home to find the world ravaged by a cataclysmic event. He joins a ragtag family of hybrids and humans searching to find answers behind the event… ultimately discovering a vast conspiracy that forces him to question his very existence.

Hulu has ordered a pilot for a series based on Sweet Tooth, with Jim Mickle on board to write and direct the episode. Mickle's previous credits include STAKE LAND, WE ARE WHAT WE ARE, COLD IN JULY, and the Sundance TV series Hap and Leonard.

Mickle will also be executive producing Sweet Tooth alongside Linda Moran and Team Downey's Robert Downey Jr., Susan Downey, and Amanda Burrell. Team Downey is producing with Warner Bros. TV.

The TV shows Preacher, iZombie, and Lucifer all started off as DC Vertigo titles as well, so hopefully Sweet Tooth will turn out to be at least as successful as they have been.

I have never read an issue of the comic book, but the idea sounds so strange that I am intrigued to see what a live action adaptation of it would look like.
